The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, Ondo State, Nigeria, is the first specialized University of Medical Sciences in Nigeria with the mandate to advance high level excellence through teaching, innovative research, and service delivery in all health sciences disciplines.

The Governing Council of the University is inviting suitably qualified and highly motivated candidates with sufficient academic and administrative experiences to apply for the positions of the Vice Chancellor and the Registrar, which will soon be vacant.

THE POSITION OF VICE CHANCELLOR

1. The Vice-Chancellor is the Academic and Administrative Head of the University and is responsible, under the Governing Council and in accordance with the Statute of the University, for organising and conducting the Academic, Financial and Administrative business of the University. The Vice-Chancellor as the Accounting Officer of the University is the Chief Academic, Administrative and Financial Officer of the University.
2. He/She is the Chief Disciplinary Officer and has authority over all employees and students of the University, subject to the Statute and Conditions of Service of the University. The Vice-Chancellor is responsible for the promotion of a world-class, high-quality University education and the provision of necessary academic and administrative leadership.
3. Reporting to the University Council, he has a mandate to provide institutional leadership and oversight and develop and drive the vision, mission and strategies for the advancement of the University.

5. respected individual with unassailable personal and professional integrity, with a distinguished record of accomplishment in the University system, and with proven leadership qualities, administrative and intellectual capabilities as well as teaching and research credentials.

THE PERSON

1. The candidate, who should be a seasoned academic, should possess the following minimum academic qualifications and competencies:
2. Should not be more than 65 years old by March 10, 2025, when the office of Vice-Chancellor will be vacant.
3. Be a Medical Doctor, and a holder of an earned Doctorate (PhD) and/or Medical Fellowship Postgraduate Degrees, in addition to a first MBBS degree from a reputable University;
4. Have attained the position of a full professor for at least than (10) years from the date of this advertisement and must have held senior administrative responsibilities in a recognized University;
5. Be a visionary and strategic leader with the skills and competencies to champion the University's Vision and Strategic Objectives;
6. Be an accomplished academic with a proven track record of quality research and publications in top global journals;
7. Have a proven track record of attracting research grants and funding support into the University System;
8. Have a demonstrated and proven record of substantial experience in international research partnerships, net working, team building, fundraising/ resource mobilization and collaborative research.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for one term of five (5) years. The terms and conditions of appointment are very attractive and shall be determined according to the University Statute and Conditions of Service.

SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

The Remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the Post of Registrar of Public Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined from time to time by the State Government and the University Council as appropriate.
