Maikalangu commences 750-meter road construction in bagusa

In continuation of his development agenda for the residents of Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Chairman  Christopher Maikalangu has commenced  construction and rehabilitation of a 750-meter road in the Bagusa community. 

Speaking at the ceremony, Maikalangu emphasized his commitment to distributing projects across the wards of AMAC based on priority. 

He thanked the community for their confidence in him and reminded them of his campaign promise to provide an access road if elected. 

“Today’s flag off in Bagusa community is the fulfillment of my campaign promise, aimed at massive intervention on access and link roads to boost security, increase socio-economic activities, and improve the general well-being of our people,” he stated.

He said: “I wish to say here that as your worthy son whom you have sent to Abuja Municipal Area Council to lead you as the Executive Chairman of AMAC, firstly, I want to thank you for having that confidence in me. 

“Second, sometime in 2022 when I came to this community and this Chief Palace in particular, to seek your support, I promised you that if I am elected to office I will provide an access road for you. 

“Today’s flag off we are witnessing here in Bagusa community is in fulfillment of my campaign promise to you, targeted on massive intervention on access and link roads, to boost security and increase socio-economic activities and general well-being of our people in various communities.

“This road project was designed with drainage, it will later follow with solar street lights, and as for the contractor handling this job, you are expected to finished the projects within 2 Months.

Like I said last time we flagged off the Waru/Yimitu community road, I want to urge our able youths in this community to monitor the project and report any substandard work done by the contractor.”

He added: “Once again, I call on people in this area to support this Government and cooperate with the contractors so that we can deliver this work within the stipulated time.

“This initiative known as Urban Renewal projects is aimed at improving the roads that are in the interior villages in order to open them up to business opportunities and international aids to come in and assist our communities.

“By next week, Bagusa residents would see equipment rolling into the community for commencement of the roads projects and I assure that raining season will not stop us from achieving this project.

“I enjoin residents in this Area to pray for my good health and give me your unflinching cooperation and a lot will be achieved in our communities.I am here at the Chief Palace to also pay my homage to the Chief of Bagusa and to solicit for support of the Community for smooth execution of the roads projects.”

The Supervisory Councillor for Works, Hon. Dantani Zaudna, praised Maikalangu for his hard work and result-oriented approach, suggesting that his performance guarantees a second term in office. 

Similarly, the Council Secretary, Hon. Jafaru Gwagwa, assured that Gwagwa ward would vote massively for Maikalangu in 2026 due to his developmental projects.

Architect Andrew Gaza, Head of the Department of Works, advised residents to avoid misusing the road once completed, emphasizing its economic and social importance. He highlighted the cooperation shown by the community in adjusting affected houses.

Chief Zaka Iyah, the Mai Angwa of Bagusa, expressed his gratitude in Gbagyi dialect, praying for God’s continued blessing on the Council Chairman for the road project.
