Fargo’s Pit BBQ in Bryan, once listed among the best barbecue joints in the state, will close after Saturday, restaurant owners Alan Caldwell and Belender Wells announced in a social media post Friday afternoon.

Fargo’s has been open for 24 years. Caldwell and Wells said they tried to stay dedicated despite the economic climate, which made operations difficult to sustain.

“To everyone who has visited us throughout the years, we extend our deepest gratitude for your patronage,” the owners wrote in a social media post. “You have been the backbone of our restaurant, and we couldn't have come this far without you."

In 2013, Fargo’s was named to Texas Monthly’s prestigious Top 50 Best Barbecue Joints in Texas list, giving it recognition beyond the Bryan-College Station area. Fargo’s was named to the Top 50 list again in 2017. In Texas Monthly’s latest rankings released in 2021, Fargo’s was one of three Brazos Valley barbecue restaurants that made the honorable mention page.
