AMELIA, Ohio (WXIX) - The man convicted of gunning down a Clermont County tattoo parlor owner will learn his fate Monday.

Court records show prosecutors and Michael Guilfoyle Jr. agreed he will serve 38 years to life in prison, but Clermont County Common Pleas Court Judge Victor Haddad will have the final say.

The sentencing hearing is scheduled to start at 1:15 p.m.

It comes less than a week after Guilfoyle Jr., 33, pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated murder and aggravated burglary in the slaying of Brian Wilson.

He told investigators he shot Wilson 17 times at Stay Gold tattoo shop on Jan. 8, 2023, because Wilson “owed him money,” and “it was someone he thought was a friend,” investigators wrote in an affidavit filed in Clermont County Municipal Court.

Prosecutors also have said Guilfoyle told police he shot the victim because he “disrespected him as a man.”

The victim can be heard begging for his life and then seven shots followed by eight more shots.

Wilson, 42, of Batavia Township, was found unresponsive in the street outside the store when first responders arrived minutes later.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The first officer on the scene was from Pierce Township. He heard gunshots, a pause and then two more shots, court records show.

The officer saw a man who turned out to be Guilfoyle Jr. with a handgun at the edge of Ohio 125 and the victim lying in the road.

He ordered the gunman to get on the ground, according to the affidavit.

Once additional officers arrived, they took Guilfoyle Jr. into custody.

Ohio 125 was shut down for hours at Ohio 132 while the sheriff’s office investigated and the coroner’s office responded.
