Di Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) don warn say increased rainfall go shelle for Nigeria throughout di month of July, especially for north and north-central states.

Di waether agency also yarn say ‘Dry Spell’ and ‘Little Dry Season (LDS)’ wey pipo sabi as mid-summer drought go shele.

Utsev tok say “We dey call on states and local goment councils, to increase and step up efforts to avoid flood-related disasters for dia domains as we approach di peak of di flooding season.

“For di national, some states don start to experience some level of flooding and im associated disaster as of April dis year.

“So far, more dan three states like di FCT don experience high levels of flooding, wit several casualties recorded, including displacement of pipo and loss of properties”, Utsev add.

Ways to prevent flooding for your area

NiMet advise di public to make sure say dem clear all drainage systems and properly maintain to prevent flash flooding during dis time.

Clear drainage systems and canals.

Authorities for local and state level need collect runoff water

Regularly clear dirty from drains and ditches.
