Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has voiced strong criticism of President William Ruto’s administration, predicting that the president’s political career may be jeopardized by the country’s youth, particularly Generation Z.

Speaking at Kamuthanga during the burial of Rex Masai, who was tragically shot dead during Gen Z demonstrations, Babu Owino expressed disappointment that President Ruto did not attend the funeral.

He emphasized that the president should have been present to console Rex’s grieving family and to take responsibility for the loss of life during the protests.

The emotional event was marked by calls for justice and accountability, with Babu highlighting the government’s role in ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.

“The Gen Z you see here and across the country will send you into political oblivion by 2027,” Babu declared, addressing the crowd. His statement resonated with many young people present, who have become increasingly vocal about their dissatisfaction with the current administration.

The youth have been particularly affected by economic challenges and political instability, fueling their involvement in demonstrations and political discourse.

The lawmaker did not hold back in his critique of President Ruto, attributing the high cost of living in Kenya to what he described as the president’s failed policies.

“President Ruto’s administration has let down the people of Kenya. The high cost of living is unbearable, and it is a clear indication of failed leadership,” Babu stated. His remarks were met with applause from the crowd, who shared their own stories of hardship and economic struggle.

The burial was attended by several prominent leaders, demonstrating the widespread concern over the current political and economic climate.

Among those present were Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, as well as other leaders from various parts of the country. Their presence underscored the significance of the event and the need for a united front in addressing the nation’s challenges.
