Tricycle Owners , Operators Laud Soludo On Security, Infrastructural Development

Tricycle owners and operators in Anambra State have commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his commitment to ensuring security of lives and property across the state.

They also thanked the Governor for his strides in health, infrastructure and other sectors of the state economy, and assured him of their support to enable him continue his leadership beyond 2025, expressing confidence that under his guidance, Anambra will continue to thrive and prosper.

Speaking during a solidarity visit to the Government House Awka, the Tricycle owners and operators from Awka zone said that the recent initiative by the government to conduct security profiling and route identification for Tricycle operators through the Special Service Unit, Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, is a bold and necessary step towards creating a safer environment.

Speaking through their Chairman, Mr Collins Ozojiofor and Administrative Officer, Mr Nnaji Ekenedilichukwu, the group noted that unidentified tricycles are often used to commit crime, including kidnapping, robbery and cult-related killing, reason they are supporting the Governor’s proactive approach to tackling the issue, particularly the criminal activities associated with tricycles.

The group, represented by their unit heads, wondered why certain individuals are opposing the security measure if not that they are perpetrating these crimes with tricycles or benefiting from them.

They accused certain individuals of forcing members to pay thirty-five thousand naira for tracking devices on their tricycles, and colluding with some officials of government agencies to extort members with guns, calling for urgent intervention by the Governor.

Receiving the group, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi, thanked them for supporting Governor Soludo in his efforts to make Anambra better for citizens and residents.

He commended them for their orderly manner in the face of the challenges they said they face at work, and said that their complaints have been noted for necessary action that will address them.
