While audiences were impressed by Alexander Siddig's take on the Batman antagonist, the star was critical of the way the part was written.

Speaking to Reel Talker, Alexander Siddig has vocalized his disappointment at Ra's Al Ghul's depiction in Gotham. Whilst he holds plenty of praise for his co-stars, including Bruce Wayne actor David Mazouz, he has expressed how playing the immortal wasn't "how he envisioned." Viewers disagree, considering Ra's Al Ghul to be one of many reasons why Gotham is an underrated action series.
