20-year-old `person of interest’ sought in the slaying of a 17-year-old in Cahokia Heights

Authorities are searching for a 20-year-old Cahokia Heights man described as a “person of interest” in connection with the June 29 shooting death of a 17-year-old, according to the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis.

They are asking the public for help in locating the man. Anyone with information is asked to call Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis at 618-332-4277 or CRIMESTOPPERS.

St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. identified the victim of the shooting as Terrance Booker, 17, of the 1300 block of Julie Avenue, Cahokia Heights.. The shooting was reported to the Cahokia Heights Police Department at 5:19 a.m., and Booker was found with multiple gunshot wounds in a yard of a home in the 1300 block of Williams Street.

Fourteen investigators are working on the case, led by Sgt. Justin Biggs of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department. Biggs is serving as deputy commander of the Major Case Squad.

The BND is not publishing the name of the person of interest as he has not been charged with a crime.
