Suspected gun manufacturers arrested in Edo
Operatives of the Edo State police command have arrested two suspects, Evans Ojiezele and Choice Ebhojaghe, over alleged gun manufacturing in the state.
The commissioner of police in the state, Funsho Adeboye, said the suspects were members of a syndicate specialising in fabricating guns at the Uromi and Ubiaja axis.
He said the suspects were arrested by the police during a sting operation by their anti-kidnapping and cybercrime unit following credible intelligence.
He added that two of the suspects, Evans Ojiezele and Choice Ebhojaghe were arrested while others escaped.
Adeboye said that upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime, adding that efforts were ongoing to arrest the flee suspects, while those arrested would be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.
He listed the items recovered from them to include five pump-action guns, 25 locally made guns, one file machine for gun manufacturing, 9 rounds of live cartridges, gun manufacturing tools, a one native bulletproof vest and 35 butts of locally made guns.
