Housing ministry signs performance contracts with Directors, Departments’ heads

Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has signed performance contracts with directors and heads of the department boost their efficiency.

The Permanent Secretary, Dr Marcus Ogunbiyi, stated this during the contract signing yesterday in Abuja .

The performance contract, is in line with the mandate and directive from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, to bring out the best in officers and ensure that every officer is contributing positively to the attainment of priorities in the ministry.
Ogunbiyi, said that the performance management system is not for promotion but to provide avenue for mentoring officers to discharge their duties effectively and efficiently.
“I must remove this misconception about PMS. PMS is not for promotion. Performance management system is to bring out the best of an officer in the service,”.

He said “Under the visionary leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Ministry has been mandated to drive Pillar 5 of the presidential priorities, focusing on transportation and infrastructure as enablers of growth.
“This mandate is part of the broader framework for the Ministerial Performance Management System Plan (MPMS), developed from the National Development Plan and the Federal Civil Service Strategies and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 (FCSSIP25)”,he noted.

He explained that the performance of each department directly impacts the overall performance of the Ministry and urged the directors to ensure their departments do not become a bottleneck to the Ministry’s success in delivering critical projects that drive the nation’s growth.
He emphasized his support for the Directors in achieving their objectives and emphasised the importance of cascading the signing of performance contracts to subordinates within the next two weeks .

He called on all members of the Ministry to work together to harness the transformative power of infrastructure, creating sustainable growth and prosperity for Nigeria.

Earlier in his welcome remark, the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Mohammed Saulawa, said this is a significant moment in the journey of the ministry and signing of the contract streamline huge commitment.
“ The signing of contract is a pledge to serve our country with latest innovations and dedication”.
Saulawa commended the directors and heads of departments for all their efforts and commitments in adhering to all the ministry’s policies and goals .
“ As we embark on this journey to meet targets, we will achieve the vision of ministry and our country.”
