This week, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, stepped out to support Prince Edward as he became a member of the Order of the Thistle—and for the prestigious occasion, she wore an outfit that appeared to include a sartorial nod to her husband of 25 years

On Wednesday, the royal couple came together for a private ceremony at St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh, where Edward and Queen Camilla were appointed Royal Knights of the Order by King Charles. Per the BBC, the Order of the Thistle is the highest honor in Scotland and recognizes 16 knights chosen from men and women who have held public office or have given a “contribution” to public life. Looking regal as ever at the event, Sophie wore a soft pink dress with a matching hat with a ditzy floral lining, as well as a pair of glittering diamond earrings that were reportedly an anniversary gift from Edward

According to Tatler, the half-moon earrings were gifted to Sophie from Edward for the pair's 25th anniversary (the silver year), which took place just a few weeks ago on June 19. Sophie finished accessorizing with delicate gold bracelets on each wrist and a pendant necklace with a turquoise stone.

This isn't the first time Sophie has paid sartorial tribute to another royal with what she wore. Just last month, the duchess paired her silky green gown with one of Kate Middleton's favorite tiaras at a state dinner honoring members of the Japanese royal family at Buckingham Palace. The Lotus Flower Tiara—which was made for Queen Elizabeth back in the 1920s and combines both pearls and diamonds that were sourced from a necklace that King George VI gave to his wife for their wedding—soon became synonymous with Middleton, as it was the first tiara she chose to wear following her wedding to Prince William in 2011.
