Philip Shuaibu’s Expulsion By PDP Long Expected – Bishop Edoro
LAGOS – Bishop Dr Joseph Ighalo Edoro, Edo State-born cleric, has said that the recent expulsion of Philip Shuaibu, the impeached deputy governor of the state, by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was long expected.
Speaking with Sunday Independent in Lagos on Saturday, Bishop Edoro, maintained that for close watchers of developments in Edo State, the PDP’s action was not a surprise.
According to him, Shuaibu fought several battles with his former principal, Governor Godwin Obaseki, over his decision to contest for the governorship of Edo State under the PDP platform.
Dr Edoro stressed: “The initial wrangling snowballed into a naughty affair, which saw Philip Shuaibu impeached. If you remember, several times I sued for peace and advised Shuaibu to reconsider the path of peace and honour and mend ways with his former principal, Governor Obaseki.
“Shuaibu, like many others, have chosen the path of all politicians who are never complete in behaviour, even though they lack nothing.
“Joining the opposition is the only way left for Shuaibu to take his pound of flesh. It is a cultural pattern for politicians to tread this path, moreso as Shuaibu has the right to do so.”
Edoro, however, urged politicians to learn a lesson by stopping prostituting from one party to another because they fail to pick tickets or get appointments.
He stressed that for politicians to engage in prostitution only means that it is not the idea to serve or facilitate an ideology, but for inordinate ambitions.
Edoro, however, noted that “the expulsions of Shaibu and Dan Orbih at this crucial moment may also have its negative effect on the coming Edo governorship election as these individuals have worked hard in their constituencies.”
