Emotions ran high on Sunday at Uhuru Park during the memorial concert held in honour of protest victims.

Kenyans turned up in large numbers to honour those who died during the anti-Finance Bill 2024 protests last two weeks.

They carried Kenyan flags and waved them as they were entertained by various artistes.

Kenyans eulogised those who died during protests as heroes who fought for the country to get justice.

A woman was seen weeping emotionally as she was consoled by concert goers after she could not contain her tears.

She said for the first time, she felt patriotic from the show of unity demonstrated by the Gen Z.

The woman added that the young generation has made her proud and those who died in the protests did not die in vain.

"Go well our heroes, I'm very proud of you. Gen Zs have made me proud, they have made me proud!" she said amind sobs.

"I never bought the flag of Kenya, it is the first time I bought this flag because I'm proud to be a Kenyan. For the first time, I'm proud to be a Kenyan. Ooh my children, you did not die in vain."

A woman standing beside her held her shoulders and comforted her as she expressed herself.

Gen Zs and Millenials thronged Uhuru Park in their hundreds for the memorial concert.

The event, dubbed Shujaaz Memorial Concert, brought on board other people outside the bracket of the two generations.
