Tuesday, June 25th, 2024 was a remarkable day in the history of the Nigerian entertainment industry as one of the Giants in the industry, David Adeleke who is popularly known as Davido tied the knot with his longtime partner, Chioma Rowland, a chef.

The wedding event which took place in Lagos was allegedly bragged by the groom, Davido, to be the "One and Only of its kind in Nigeria".

The claim has been meted with strong reactions from Nigerians but it is necessary to establish a view that Davido's wedding is great, superb, and fantabulous but a long way far behind the gesture of the wedding between Aliko Dangote's daughter, Hajiyan Fatima, and her husband, Jamilu Abubakar in 2018.

What the caliber of people who attended a wedding event is the best yardstick to assess the level 9f supremacy of a wedding event, knowing fully well that no high-level powered wedding event will lag in what to eat, drink, and entertaining activities at the event.

It could be well understood that Davido informally tagged his wedding as an event for the gathering of billionaires. Let's give that to him because we saw the caliber of young guys who are millionaires, a few captains of industries, and some political office holders who attended the event.

If those people are the factors considered by Davido to tag the wedding event as "one and only of its kind in Nigeria," The Round Table finds the claim watery.

Flashing back at the 2018 wedding event between Hajiya Fatima Dangote and his husband, Jamilu Abubakar, you see a gathering of "trillionaires in the same hall".

Focusing this argument on Naira, Davido truly gathered a team of billionaires while Hajiya Fatima gathered "collections of trillionaires". However, if U.S. dollars are the yardstick, the real billionaires gathered at the 2018 wedding event of Hajiya Fatima.

At the wedding of Hajiya Fatima, we had people like Microsoft founder and longtime holder of the richest man in the world, Bill Gates; almost the captain's 9f industry in Nigeria, first class traditional rulers, President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Ado; [then] vice president of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi osinbajo; [then] First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Aishat Buhari; [then] wife of the vice president of Nigeria, Dolapo Osinbajo;[then] Speakers of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; State Governors; National Assembly members and billionaires from different countries of the world.
Again, recall the claim that it is understood that Davido had a fantastic wedding event and an elaborate one but this is not enough to endorse the claim that the wedding was "only of its kids in Nigeria."
