Fabrizio Romano says there’s still a possibility Chelsea could actually sell £60m player this summer

There’s still a chance that Chelsea end up selling their £60m player in this summer transfer window.

That is according to well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano.

While the Blues have already made several new signings this summer, there’s also been some exits from Stamford Bridge.

Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall and Omari Hutchinson have all been sold very recently.

Will Chelsea’s first-team defender Marc Cucurella follow a similar path and leave West London?

There’s still a possibility Chelsea could sell Marc Cucurella

Romano has now reported that there’s still a chance Chelsea and Spain left-back Cucurella could leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

There’s no desire from the Blues to sell the 25-year-old star, but they could change their mind if they receive a big offer.

When asked if there’s a chance Cucurella could leave Chelsea, Romano said via Playback: “I think it would depend on the proposals. If there is a big proposal, the situation could change for Cucurella.

“… We know that many clubs have been showing interest already last summer.

“… I think there is still a possibility for Cucurella to leave in case Chelsea receive a good proposal, but it’s not something guaranteed at all.

“At the moment, Chelsea are not desperate to sell him. They are quite happy with his performances.”

He’s slowly starting to live up to £60m price tag

There were several eyebrows raised when Chelsea splashed out £60m (BBC Sport) to sign Cucurella from Brighton in 2022.

However, Cucurella is definitely back on track in 2024 and playing some really efficient football.

The aggressive full-back finished last season very strongly for his club. Also, he’s seriously impressing so far at this summer’s Euro 2024 tournament as a key player for Spain.

The Chelsea Chronicle would be very disappointed if Cucurella does end up leaving.

In fairness, he’s still under contract with Chelsea until 2028 and they’re believed to be happy with him.
