Robbie Williams continues 30 year Noel Gallagher feud as he makes jibe at Oasis star

Robbie Williams has proved words stick as he continues his feud with Noel Gallagher.

The former Take That singer, 50, has been locked in a feud with the Oasis star, 57, for years alongside his brother Liam, 51. It has been going on since the 1990s as insults have been thrown about for years. Robbie continued to poke the Britpop stars at his BST Hyde Park show over the weekend.

The pop star could be seen walking out onto the huge stage with a small cardboard cut out of Noel. He then gave the figure a pat on the head, in an apparent mock at Noel’s height before kicking off his performance. However, Robbie decided to sing Oasis’ huge hit Don’t Look Back In Anger during the show.

He was also joined by 90s band Supergrass’ front man Gaz Coombes for a rendition of their hit Alright. Robbie and the Oasis brothers traded insults throughout their early careers, with Robbie even challenging Liam to a £100,000 bet to have a boxing match at the 2000 Brit Awards. Noel famously branded him “that fat dancer from Take That,” which didn’t go down well at all.

In 2022, Robbie hit out at Liam and Noel as he branded them “gigantic bullies”. The She’s The One singer said he’s a “huge fan” of the band and the “incredible hedonism and reckless abandon and rock ‘n’ roll” they represented. He admitted to Zane Lowe on his Apple Music 1 show, that his own competitive nature was part of it.

He said: “The great thing about being a fan of Oasis is when Liam comes out with a great album, I can be a fan. The great thing about being resentful towards them, is when they don’t, I’m happy. I win on both sides.” Labelling the Mancunian stars “gigantic bullies to the whole industry, everybody in it” he said that he didn’t like that side of them.

Robbie added that it is “vital” there are pop stars who can be “personalities”. He admitted: “It’s fantastic that there’s a Liam Gallagher in the world.” Yet, Robbie also shared how the constant jibes were “unbearable” as he had comments not only from the Gallaghers but also the rock scene and sections of the media.

It left him depressed and eventually inspired his move to Los Angeles in 2004. Robbie previously said: “My brand of entertainment wasn’t deemed worthy because of how I presented myself. There was a culture of ‘Robbie Williams is not cool’. That was apart from the three million people who bought my albums.

“Every time I watched TV programmes, there were people being hateful about me. That was just wrong and grotesque. It was unbearable. I just left the country. Liam said that I should be hung, Noel said I was ‘the fat dancer from Take That’. I remember every single syllable of every single thing they’ve ever said about me.”

Robbie and Liam initially started as friends in 1995 after Robbie quit Take That, and they spent a weekend together at the Glastonbury Festival. Liam appeared to patch things up between them in 2020 after learning Robbie’s dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Yet, the Take That star said at the time he couldn’t fogive Noel. He told the Talent Takes Practice podcast: “I could talk for two hours about why Noel’s s***. Isn’t it interesting what a few words can do to your whole life? I’m not healed.”
