The discussion about Dana White’s gambling habits began with former fighter, Brendan Schaub commenting on the pressures White faces in his business in terms of selling fights and events. This prompted Rogan to exclaim, “Look if Dana loses 7 million one night and strokes out and they come to me, that’s what I do, I tell them this is what you’re going to do.”

The remark drew laughter from other guests on the show as Schaub found it funny that Rogan’s plans humorously imply that, “Strokes out over 7 mil, Joe what do we do? Just ruin the business”. However, the podcast host then revealed that it’s not a far-fetched idea that White wouldn’t be fazed by such an amount of money as he shared an eye-opening story about White’s gambling behavior.

Rogan stated, “Hanging out with him gambling will give you the craziest f**king anxiety”, when Schaub inquired if White’s a “wild boy” when it comes to gambling, the UFC color commentator further revealed that, “Oh my god, I walked in and he was $600,000 down.”

Brian Simpson, another guest on the show, then shifted the conversation to White’s appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s show, “Club Shay Shay,” where he spoke candidly about his gambling dreams. Simpson revealed that “…He wants to bet a million dollar hand and him and Shannon Sharpe started reminiscing about this old blackjack place and he said his strategy is that his first bet is always the highest, so he goes in on the first bet that’s the highest.”

This high-stakes approach, while thrilling, has also landed the UFC boss in some interesting situations as he once shared the story of how he thought he had lost $80,000 in a night out in Las Vegas which later turned out to be $3 million instead!

White shares story of ‘slight’ miscalculation in his gambling losses

During an appearance on the Lex Fridman podcast, the UFC boss recounted a night out in Las Vegas that he dubbed his “biggest loss”! White began his story by describing an evening that started innocently enough. He was at the Rio with some friends, enjoying dinner and drinks in one of the casino’s luxurious suites before the festivities escalated and the UFC boss found himself in the high-limit room, still drinking and “having a blast”.

By the time he left for home, he believed he had lost around $80,000 and the next morning, White stated, “I’m at work the next day and the host calls me,” he said. “I told him, ‘Don’t get too comfortable with my 80 grand, I’m coming back for it.'”

To his shock, the host responded with silence, before revealing, “‘Dana. You lost $3 million last night.’” The UFC boss initially doubted the figure as he revealed he had an already established credit limit at the casino, however, the host explained, “He goes, ‘Yeah, you made us call the GM of the hotel and you started calling him ‘a f****** p****,’ and I went, ‘Yeah, no, that sounds like something I would do.” White ended the story by sharing that he “…never drank again when I was playing cards after that night.”

In conclusion, Joe Rogan’s revelation and the UFC boss’s story of his escapades in Las Vegas paint a vivid picture of the UFC CEO’s high-stakes lifestyle. While he has decided to stop drinking during card games after a valuable lesson, his gambling adventures continue to captivate and entertain the fandom!
