Bayern Munich’s summer is already crazy and it hasn’t really started yet...

FC Barcelona could be eyeing up two big moves — Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich and RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo.

Kimmich is a favorite of new Barça head coach Hansi Flick, who is also very familiar with Olmo from his days in the Bundesliga:

Barcelona are still determining their targets for the summer transfer window, which opens in Spain at midnight. They’ve been linked with many players – some with more intensity than others. Two of those that fall into this category are Joshua Kimmich and Dani Olmo, of Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig respectively.

Kimmich is well-liked by Hansi Flick, who managed him during his successful spell in charge of Bayern Munich. Meanwhile, Olmo is greatly appreciated by sporting director Deco, and he is an option to reinforce Barcelona’s options on the left wing.

As it turns out, Barcelona may not get the chance to sign either player, as reports in England (via Sport) say that Manchester City are eyeing up moves for Kimmich and Olmo. The combined operations would be worth £100m, which would leave the Catalans with very little chance of competing.

At this stage, it does not appear that Kimmich or Olmo are top targets for Barcelona, with Nico Williams, Luis Diaz and Amadou Onana/Mikel Merino looking better placed. Ultimately, the club’s financial situation will determine the business they can do over the coming weeks.

This might be one of the more unlikely transfer rumors out there, but let’s check it out anyway — Chelsea FC is gauging Mathys Tel’s interest in a move:

Chelsea have reportedly ramped up their interest in striker Mathys Tel, and have discussed making a move for him in the transfer window. Pick a striker and the Blues have probably been linked with him this summer. Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres, Ivan Toney, Dominic Solanke, Jhon Duran, Alexander Isak and others are reportedly on Tod Boehly’s radar.

They seem adamant about improving upon their attacking line before next season, though. And a Bayern Munich man is now the latest target they have added to their shortlist. Tel, who has previously been on their radar, is back on there this summer. And Chelsea could ramp up their interest, with insider Simon Phillips suggesting internal discussions over the signing have taken place.

With Phillips’ suggestion that the Blues have heated up on Tel, it would not be a surprise if they were to fully pursue him. It is unclear what Bayern’s stance on that would be. But signing Tel would cover two positions for Chelsea. The forward is capable of playing through the center, and on either the right or left wings.

Bayern Munich’s stance would almost assuredly be, “Get lost.” However, if we play devil’s advocate with this scenario, maybe Tel is getting concerned with Bayern Munich’s crowded depth chart in the attack.

With Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise and Paris Saint-Germain’s Xavi Simons rumored to be incoming — and no exits aside of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting so far — Tel could conceivably be sweating his playing time.

It is very doubtful, but we will keep an eye on it anyway...

Germany is in the EURO 2024 quarterfinals. Bayern Munich seems like it might torch some key players on its roster, and we are sitting here wondering why it just can’t all come together on both fronts to make for a smooth and seamless summer!

That is never the way, but it is also why we are here doing this podcast, so let’s get cracking with a look at what is on tap for this episode of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:

  • Early thoughts on Germany vs. Spain at EURO 2024.
  • Matthijs de Ligt looks like he is headed to Manchester United.
  • Bayern Munich has agreed on personal terms with Xavi Simons, but that does not mean a deal is imminent.

Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund would be all good with the Red Devils picking up Bayern Munich center-back Matthijs de Ligt:

Rasmus Højlund has praised Manchester United transfer target Matthijs amid speculation the Bayern Munich defender is set for a move to Old Trafford.

‘That has nothing to do with me I can’t answer that question but he’s a good defender,’ said the United striker following Denmark’s Euro 2024 defeat against Germany.

Højlund, though, might not be there to welcome De Ligt, as one rumor indicates that Manchester United would like to swap the Dane for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen (per La Repubblica via 90Min.com):

Manchester United are prepared to offer Rasmus Højlund to Napoli as part of an audacious bid to sign striker Victor Osimhen.

Mats Hummels turned in a spectacular season with Borussia Dortmund, but was let go by the team after the dismissal of head coach Edin Terzić.

Rumors emerged that the club felt as if both men had to go for the club to move forward, so Hummels is enjoying free agency and Bayer Leverkusen could be kicking the tires on an acquisition of the veteran:

Yes, @matshummels was recently discussed at Bayer 04 Leverkusen as a potential alternative for the central defense! … as first via @kicker ✔️

▫️But Leverkusen are considering more options. Not only #Hummels. Another name on the shortlist: Riccardo #Calafiori (Bologna)!

Saudis involved in Chiesa sweepstakes (Rudy Galetti via 90Min.com)

Juventus attacker Federico Chiesa could be the recipient of a massive offer from Saudi Arabia:

Saudi Pro League moneybags Al Hilal and Al Nassr could go head-to-head in the race to sign Juventus winger Federico Chiesa.

Clubs from England and Saudi Arabia are taking close looks at Bayern Munich attacker Kingsley Coman:

According to reports, a number of Premier League teams, including Liverpool, have been informed that Bayern Munich are prepared to part ways with Kingsley Coman this summer.

The French winger is likely to be shown the exit door at the Allianz Arena this summer with the German giants preparing for the arrival of Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise.

Under new manager Vincent Kompany, the Bundesliga club are expected to make changes after losing out the league title to Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen last season.

As per HITC, the German club have made contact with the Premier League giants to inform them that they intend to sell the 28-year-old winger.

The player is not confident about his playing time at the Allianz Arena next season and he could be willing to consider an exit in order to get more first team action.

The German giants are expected to demand £50 million for the player but the report mentions that there is no certainty that any club would be willing to pay that considering Coman’s injury record.

Saudi Pro League clubs have shown an interest in signing the pacey winger and they would be willing to meet Bayern’s valuation for the player.

Former Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann is pushing all of the right buttons for Germany at the moment (well, almost all of them).

The German national team used a relentless attack and some endless energy to wear down Denmark 2-0 and claim a spot in the in EURO 2024 quarterfinals. It might not always have been pretty, but it was always exciting. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:

  • A look at Julian Nagelsmann’s starting XI and what the big changes were.
  • A rundown of the scoring and substitutions.
  • A look at Germany’s early dominance and why it still probably left fans feeling a little uneasy.
  • Why the weather delay really could have gone sideways for the Germans.
  • Respect for the Danes, who really did battle like hell.
  • Thoughts on Germany’s overall performance and why — despite some really frustrating moments — this was a landmark performance for the squad under Nagelsmann.

VfB Stuttgart winger Chris Führich could be on the move this summer, but it likely will not be to Bayern Munich as was previously rumored. Instead, Führich could field offers from RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen:

⚪️ RB Leipzig and Bayer 04 Leverkusen are still keen on Chris #Führich who can leave @VfB with a release clause of €20m!

❌ Dortmund out of the race at this stage

❌ Bayern‘s interest never advanced.

More teams from the Premier League and Serie A have inquired about him.

It is expected that the final decision will be made late during this transfer window. VfB Stuttgart is initially planning with him.

Führich has also been linked to Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham Hotspur.
