The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended popular social media prankster Ubani Zion Chibuike, widely known by his alias ZFancy, in a significant operation led by the NPF National Cybercrime Centre.

Chibuike was detained at an apartment in Wuye, Abuja, after videos he posted online sparked alarm and concern.

These videos, which appeared to depict ZFancy committing serious crimes, including rape, went viral and caused widespread fear among social media users.

As the disturbing content circulated, many viewers were shocked and believed the incidents portrayed were real.

In response to his arrest, ZFancy claimed that the videos were scripted and intended as part of a strategy to revive his online presence after a period of inactivity.

He emphasized that the acts shown in the videos were staged pranks and not actual crimes.

Despite his assertions that the videos were merely pranks, the Nigeria Police Force has underscored the gravity of his actions.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force’s Public Relations Officer, emphasized that creating content that incites fear or disturbs public peace has serious repercussions and cannot be dismissed lightly.

“The Nigeria Police Force is unwavering in its commitment to public safety and ensuring that individuals are held accountable for actions that pose a threat to the community,” stated ACP Adejobi.

“We warn all pranksters and content creators to adhere strictly to the law and avoid producing material that could endanger public security or disturb societal peace.”

The police have assured the public that they are proceeding with the necessary legal actions against ZFancy.

Authorities are urging the community to remain calm as the case progresses and are reinforcing their dedication to maintaining order and safety across the nation.
