President Ruto to Scrap seven ministries with some CSs and 15 PSs set to be fired in Cabinet reorganization.

President William Ruto on Thursday held a Cabinet meeting at State House that could turn out to be the ‘last supper’ for seven Cabinet secretaries, whose ministries are to be abolished in a looming shakeup.

According to reports, President Ruto is set to scrap at least seven ministries in the looming Cabinet shake-up.

Ruto succumbed to pressure from Gen Z protesters who demanded that he fire some Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) and Principal Secretaries (PSs) linked to corruption and wastage in his government.

According to the publication by The Standard, prior to the meeting, the president held a 40-minute meeting with his deputy Rigathi Gachagua before joining the jittery Cabinet secretaries, some of whose jobs are on the line.

In total, the number of ministries will be reduced from 22 to 15, reflecting a more consolidated and focused approach to governance.

This restructuring will see the merger of certain ministries and the disbandment of several state corporations.

The new Cabinet will have 15 CSs down from the current 22.

Ministry of Energy

Ministry of Health

Ministry of Education

National Treasury

Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation

Ministry of Foreign Affairs and EAC

Ministry of Labour and Public Service

Ministry of Affirmative Action, Youth and Gender. Ministry of Water, Forestry and Environment

Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports

Ministry of Infrastructure, Land, Housing, Public Works and Roads. Ministry of Economic Planning

Ministry of Trade, Investments and Industry, SMEs, Cooperatives, Delivery Unit and ICT

The shake-up comes in response to growing pressure from Gen Z protesters who have vocally demanded the removal of Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) and Principal Secretaries (PSs) accused of corruption and mismanagement.

The reorganization aims to streamline government operations and improve efficiency.
