It's been more than two decades since the beloved BBC sitcom My Family first graced our screens. As we entered the new millennium, it was the show that seemed to be on constant repeat.

Premiering in 2000, the series ran for a solid eleven years until its conclusion in 2011, reports Wales Online.

The sitcom revolved around the everyday antics of the Harper family residing in London. Over the years, the cast saw several changes due to departures, as previously reported by Wales Online.

With 120 episodes filmed during its tenure, My Family holds a special place in the hearts of many. Let's take a moment to reminisce about the stars of the show and their subsequent endeavours.

This rundown isn't exhaustive, but if you have a favourite character or memorable moment from My Family, feel free to share in the comments section below.

Ben Harper - Robert Lindsay

Robert Lindsay portrayed the role of dentist Ben Harper throughout the entire duration of My Family. When he wasn't being bossed about by his wife or swindled by his children, all Ben yearned for was some downtime, reports the Liverpool Echo.

However, one mishap or another would invariably prevent him from enjoying a moment's peace. Robert has been a familiar face on our TV screens for approximately half a century, with notable roles such as Wolfe Smith in Citizen Smith. His illustrious career has seen him bag numerous accolades, including Baftas and Tonys.

Since My Family wrapped up in 2011, Robert has remained active with appearances in Atlantis, Galavant, Genius, Bounty Hunters, Plebs and McDonald and Dobbs. He also starred in the 2015's Bull, alongside Maureen Lipman. In 2014 and 2019, he portrayed King John in the Maleficent film franchise, sharing the screen with Angelina Jolie.

Susan Harper - Zoe Wanamaker

Susan Harper was brought to life by Zoe Wanamaker, who played the matriarch of the Harper family. As Susan, she was a tour guide and a control freak who usually got her way.

Wanamaker, like her on-screen husband, has been gracing our screens since the early '70s. She made appearances in films such as Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone in 2001 and Five Children And It in 2004. She is also known for her various TV roles, including her portrayal of Ariadne Oliver in Agatha Christie's Poirot from 2005 until 2013.

Recently, she appeared in Britannia, Netflix's Shadow and Bone, and Showtime's The Man Who Fell To Earth. Other notable credits include Killing Eve, Worzel Gummidge, and the film My Week with Marilyn.

Nick Harper - Kris Marshall

Kris Marshall portrayed Nick Harper, the eldest Harper child, from 2000 until 2005. Nick was a carefree character who often found himself in tricky situations that his family would usually help him out of.

During his time on the show, Nick tried various jobs such as a stripper and stuntman, but was unsuccessful at all of them. When Marshall left the show in 2005, he had already appeared in 2003's Love Actually and in various roles such as DS Luke Stone in Murder City, and Dudley Sutton in Funland.

Since leaving the show, he's best known for his role as DI Humphrey Goodman in Death In Paradise from 2014 to 2017. He returned to this role last year in a new spin-off series called Beyond Paradise.

Janey Harper - Daniela Denby-Ashe

Janey Harper was portrayed by Daniela Denby-Ashe, the only daughter of the Harper family. She was a shopaholic, fashion-conscious and rebellious character, often causing headaches for her father Ben.

Daniela was already well-known on TV screens in 2000, having previously appeared in EastEnders as Sarah Hills from 1995 to 1999. Over the years, she also featured in episodes of Torchwood, and played Margaret Gale in North and South.

Throughout her career, she has also made appearances on Channel 4's Desmond's, The Bill and Absolutely Fabulous with Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders. After My Family ended, Daniela continued to stay in the limelight, playing roles such as Lorraine Donnegan in Waterloo Road and narrating Channel 5's Colin and Justin's Hotel Hell.

Michael Harper - Gabriel Thomson

Michael Harper, or Mikey to his father, was brought to life by Gabriel Thomson. Michael was the youngest of the Harper family and somewhat of an enigma compared to the rest of the family.

From the outset, Michael Harper, portrayed by Gabriel Thomson, was depicted as the intelligent one with beliefs that differed from the rest of the Harper family. Gabriel, who was once considered for the role of Harry Potter before Daniel Radcliffe was cast, took a break from acting to attend university and has since starred in numerous short films, including The Lost Choices in 2014.

Welsh actor Keiron Self played Roger Bailey Jr from series 3 until the show's conclusion in 2011. Roger, the son of Ben's mentor Roger Bailey Sr, was a simple yet cheerful character who fell in love with Abi, the daughter of Ben's cousin Richard.

Unlike Ben, Newport-born Keiron has had an extensive career in TV and theatre, appearing in High Hopes as PC Claude Cox and more recently in Still Open All Hours, Bittersweet Symphony and A Christmas Number One, which he also co-wrote.
