Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez criticized La Liga for the absence of goal-line technology following his team’s 3-2 defeat in the Clasico on Sunday, effectively putting Real Madrid on the verge of winning the title.

Xavi expressed frustration after Lamine Yamal’s shot, which Barcelona claimed crossed the line, was not awarded as a goal after VAR officials could not confirm it. The incident occurred with the score tied at 1-1 when Yamal cleverly redirected a corner towards goal, only for Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin to push the ball away, possibly after it had crossed the line.

“It’s a disgrace,” Xavi said, emphasizing that La Liga lacks the technological advancements in other top leagues like the Premier League.

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen echoed his coach’s sentiments, describing the situation as “shameful for football.”

Jude Bellingham’s late goal secured Real Madrid’s victory, leaving Barcelona 11 points adrift with six matches remaining.

Xavi admitted that Madrid’s performance has been exceptional throughout the season, with only one loss. Despite feeling his team deserved the victory based on their performance, he acknowledged Madrid’s superiority.

On the other hand, Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti expressed pride in his team’s recent achievements, particularly their victory against Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals and the late Clasico winner.

“Now we have to prepare for the final part of the season, but we are very well positioned,” Ancelotti remarked, indicating Madrid’s strong position in the title race.
