DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A Danville man has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after he was convicted of having sex with a 10-year-old girl.

Logan Swisher, 22, agreed to a partial plea deal with prosecutors on May 9. He pleaded guilty to one count of predatory criminal sexual assault, with other counts of the same crime being dropped, and he was sentenced on Wednesday.

The sexual assault happened the night of March 4, 2023, in a vehicle that was parked in Ellsworth Park after-hours. A Sheriff’s deputy found the car and, upon investigating, found Swisher climbing over the center console from the back seat into the driver’s seat. There was a girl sitting in the front passenger seat, and Swisher did not have a shirt on.

When the deputy contacted the girl’s guardian, they learned she was 10 years old. When Swisher spoke with law enforcement, prosecutors said he admitted to having sexual intercourse with her multiple times. A letter from the girl, read aloud during sentencing by the judge, expressed the trauma she suffered due to Swisher’s acts.

“In these situations, children may not fully comprehend the abuse that has been perpetrated on them,” said State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy. “The long-term effects of predatory sexual assault of a child are immeasurable. My heart goes out to the victim and her family as they work toward healing.”

Under the plea agreement he reached with prosecutors, Swisher could have been sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison. He will be required to serve 85% of the sentence he did receive and upon release from prison, he will be on parole for anywhere from three years to life. He will also have to register as a sex offender for life.
