About Avelo Airlines

Avelo Airlines began life as Casino Express Airlines on July 20, 1987, flying passengers on a Boeing 737-200 exclusively for the Red Lion Hotel and Casino in Elko, Nevada. After branching out to fly sports teams and fans wishing to attend away games, the airline changed its name to Xtra Airways on December 8, 2005.

In August 2018, former United Continental Holdings and later Allegiant Air chief operations officer Andrew Levy bought Xtra Airways to transform it from a charter airline to a low-cost carrier. In February 2020, the airline raised $125 million and received its first new aircraft from GE Capital Aviation Services.
