africanfootball.com 2024/7/20

In what was one of the most one sided Cosafa Cup finals in recent memory, Angola managed to put five goals past Namibia at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Following an eventful showpiece that took place between the Nelson Mandela Bay and Isaac Wolfson Stadium, Angola and Namibia shook hands before the final, while Comoros and Mozambique did battle in the match for 3rd place.

Angola gathered early momentum in their tie against the Brave Warriors and took the lead in the 12th minute courtesy of an effort by Pedro Bondo Francisco.

Depu then doubled the Black Sable antelopes lead moments before the break as the attacker solidified his status as one of the best players at this year’s edition of the tournament.

Victor Pedro Nanque then followed up with a brace before Keliano Manuel rounded off the scoresheet with a strike in the 70th minute.

In the match for 3rd place, Comoros and Mozambique needed to be separated via a penalty shootout after a 2-2 scoreline in regulation time.

While Kassim Hadji gave Comoros the lead in the 32nd minute, Chamito Alfandega levelled out the scoring in the 51st minute.

Ibroihim Youssouf restored the Coelacanths’ lead in the 70th minute but their lead only lasted for eight minutes as Alfandega completed his brace in the 78th minute.

Mozambique eventually went on to secure a 3-1 victory on penalties.
