JIBWIS warns against planned protest

The national chairman, Council of Ulama, Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’Ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Shiekh Sani Yayaya-Jingir, has admonished Nigerians against the dangers of public protest.

He said as Muslim, Islam has prohibited anything that could lead to chaos, calamity and anyone that does things resulting to calamity is cursed by Allah.

The Islamic cleric made the statement, Sunday during a media chat at his residence.

“Allah detest chaos, calamity and protest can lead to chaos and calamity in the country, therefore I am urging Nigerians, most particular our youth to reject any agitation for protest.

“Islam is above democracy, and it (Islam) has forbidden protest; and Allah has cautioned against any agitation for calamity,” Shiekh Jingir warned.

He cautioned that many countries have been dragged into crises as offshoots of protest, citing instances of: Kenya, Sudan,Yemen, Syria, Iraq and others.

He further admonished President Tinubu to quickly consider the plight of Nigerians within the possible short term frame.

“The president should consider returning fuel subsidy, to cushion the effect of the hardship,” he said.

Shiekh Jingir said the recent Supreme Court judgement is a well come development, for the good of Nigerians.

“The governors should see it at a safe place for them, because should they continue to temper with local government funds, Allah also be asked to account for them,” he said.

The cleric also commended President Tinubu’s, recent establishment of the  Ministry of Livestock Development.

“This would encourage livestock development, for better economic drive. Even in Islam farming and livestock goes hand-hand,” he said.
