Igbudu: Prominient Nollywood star is no more

Veteran Nollywood actor, Columbus Irosanga (aka Igbudu), is d3ad.

Irosanga was an actor and lecturer from Okrika, Rivers state, popular for playing the role of a native doctor in movies.

He gained prominence by playing the role of Igbudu in the Nollywood blockbuster, Issakaba, which was released in 2003.

He was also a lecturer in the Theatre Arts department, University of Port Harcourt, where he taught young actors.

Apart from Issakaba, he also acted in 7 Kilometre in 2015.

“Stigma” (2013): He portrayed the role of Uncle, bringing depth and nuance to the film’s narrative.

“Chike Naija” (2010): In this film, Irosanga took on the role of Mr. Peter, further showcasing his acting prowess.

“Dons in Abuja” (2004): He was featured in this production, adding to his extensive filmography.

“Python King” (2007): Irosanga’s performance in this film was yet another testament to his versatility as an actor.

Dr. Columbus Irosanga’s contributions to Nollywood have left an indelible mark, and his legacy will continue to inspire both current and future generations in the film industry.

Columbus Irosanga recently starred in The Ijele, alongside Osita Iheme and Chinedu Ikedieze.

He also starred in Amanyanabo: The Eagle King, which was set in Okrika, Rivers State, a movie that tells the historical story of the regions.

Throughout his illustrious career, Irosanga featured in many movies, significantly contributing to Nollywood’s prominence on the global stage. He was renowned for his compelling portrayals, particularly in roles that showcased his versatility and depth.

He was a recipient of several awards, including Best Actor in a Supporting Role (AMAA), Best Actor in a Drama (City Peoples Entertainment Awards), Most Promising Actor in Nigeria (AMVCA), and Best Actor in a Leading Role (Best of Nollywood Awards).
