In Ekiti, Kayode Seun and Godwin Festus face legal action after a Chief Magistrate Court remanded them in the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Ado Ekiti.

The duo is accused of conspiracy, fraud, cybercrime, and attempting to bribe police officers.

They were allegedly found in possession of a suspected stolen Mercedez Benz CLA car and offered a bribe of N485,000 to law enforcement officials in Ikere Ekiti on April 22, 2024. The charges against them fall under various sections of Nigerian law, including the Advance Fee Fraud Act 2006, the Cyber Crime Act 2015, and the Criminal Code Act.

Despite the charges, their pleas were not taken during the court proceedings. The Police prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, requested their remand pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The defendants’ counsel, Iyanu Olumuagun, withdrew her representation for unspecified reasons. Magistrate A.O. Owoleso ordered the defendants be served a hearing notice through the Nigerian Correctional Centre officers, scheduling the next hearing for June 6, 2024.
