GOL Linhas Aéreas is bringing back its flight from Brasilia to Cancun this December. The service will be GOL’s second-longest route and will be operated twice weekly.

Resuming service to Cancun

GOL Linhas Aéreas is one of three major airlines in Brazil. Founded in 2001, it is one of the world’s several sole-Boeing 737 operators and holds nearly one-third of the domestic market in Brazil. The airline has chosen Boeing’s 737 MAX aircraft to renew and expand its fleet.

A few weeks ago, GOL announced that in December it will resume its services from Aeroporto Internacional de Brasília Presidente Juscelino Kubitschek (BSB) to Aeropuerto Internacional de Cancún (CUN). The 3,663-mile route will be the airline’s second-longest route, behind its Brasilia - Orlando service. Flights will be operated twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

GOL has long had some of the world’s longest Boeing 737 MAX routes. As airline schedules shift, so do the top ten longest routes. For example, this month, GOL’s flight from Brasilia to Orlando is the second-longest. In December, that drops to number four worldwide.

The introduction of the service to Cancún will mean that in December, GOL will operate the world’s fourth, sixth, ninth, and tenth-longest Boeing 737 MAX routes. The flight from Brasilia to Orlando is 3,778 miles, from Brasilia to Cancún is 3,663 miles, from Fortaleza to Orlando is 3,605 miles, and from Brasilia to Miami is 3,598 miles.

Other options from Brazil to Cancun

Arajet, the young carrier from the Dominican Republic, also a Boeing 737 MAX operator, advertises low fares from Brazil to Cancún. The differences between Arajet and GOL are that Arajet’s flights depart from São Paulo and have a layover at the airline’s hub in Santo Domingo.

COPA Airlines, a Star Alliance carrier from Panama, also offers one-stop service from Brazil to Cancun from several cities. COPA operates flights to Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Porto Alegre, and Florianópolis. Most routes to Brazil are operated by the Boeing 737 MAX 9, but COPA also deploys its 737-800s.

Passengers flying to Cancun can also choose to fly on all three major American carriers, with one stop from São Paulo and some from Rio de Janeiro. Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Chicago, Newark, New York (JFK), Miami, and Washington are the American cities connected to Brazil via American Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta Air Lines.
