Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall to 11 districts of Odisha.

The Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar has issued yellow warning for isolated thunderstorm with lightning to district including Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Jagathsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore.

The weather department have further issued isolated heavy rainfall from 7 cm to 11 cm to four districts. These districts include Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput and Malkangiri.

For tomorrow (July 7), the Met has issued yellow warning to 14 districts of Odisha. As per the weather bulletin, isolated heavy rainfall (7 cm – 11 cm) will lash districts including Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. Meanwhile, very heavy rainfall (12 am – 20 cm) will be experienced by districts including Malkangiri, Koraput, Kandhamal and Ganjam.

Hence, a rain drenched Rath Yatra is likely this year, as heavy showers have been expected from July 7 in Odisha.

Keeping the weather condition in mind, the weather department has advised people in the yellow alert areas keep a watch on the weather and according move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning.
