Who is 'Black Widower' Thomas Randolph?

Thomas Randolph is a convicted murderer from Las Vegas, Nevada.

On May 8, 2008, Randolph's wife, 57-year-old Sharon Causse, was gunned down in their house.

At the time, the crime scene appeared to be a deadly home invasion.

Another person was found dead in their home, a handyman named Michael James Miller.

According to Randolph's testimony, Sharon was shot by an armed intruder.

He told police the burglar who shot Sharon was Miller.

He also shared that he opened fire on Miller after he gunned down Sharon.

As law enforcement further investigated the two deaths, they discovered Miller was an alleged hitman hired by Randolph.

Randolph hired Miller to murder Sharon so that he could benefit from his wife's $360,000 life insurance policy, but he turned on him during the staged robbery.

On June 28, 2017, Randolph was found guilty of Sharon and Miller's homicides.

He was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

On July 6 of the same year, Randolph was sentenced to death.

On December 10, 2020, his verdict and sentence were overturned.

Randolph's conviction was reversed because the Nevada Supreme Court ruled that evidence from his previous trial may have persuaded the jury's decision.

On August 24, 2023, he was found guilty for the second time.

He was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder and two counts of murder with the use of a deadly weapon.

After his second guilty verdict, he was sentenced to 60 years to life in prison.

"I didn’t kill Sharon, I have nothing to do with this," he told the court while insisting he was innocent.

Where is Thomas Randolph now?

Randolph remains incarcerated at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Pershing County, Nevada.

His double homicide plot is revisited in Dateline NBC Presents: The Widower.

Randolph's criminal history is the subject of HBO and Investigation Discovery's The Black Widower: The Six Wives of Thomas Randolph.

The latter is a six-part crime docuseries that premieres on July 15, 2024.

How many times has Randolph been married?

Randolph was married six times and only two of his ex-wives are alive.

His previous marriages were to Kathryn Thomas, Becky Gault, Gayna Allmon, Francis Randolph, Leona Stapelton, and Sharon.

Kathryn and Gayna testified against Randolph during his trial for Sharon's murder.

Previously, Randolph stood trial for Becky's death.

He was charged with her murder but was acquitted in 1989.

The evidence presented against Randolph during his trial for Becky's death was the evidence that the Nevada Supreme Court believed swayed the jury for his first trial for Sharon and Miller's double murder.
