NIPR at 60: Stakeholders emphasise responsible leadership

Nigerians have been urged to continue supporting President Bola Tinubu’s administration while leaders are also encouraged to remain attentive to the needs and voices of the populace.

This appeal was made during the 60th anniversary celebration of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations in Abuja.

The event brought together former heads of state, vice presidents, and other prominent leaders.

It was a vibrant and unforgettable day for members and fellows of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) as they gathered in high spirits to celebrate the institute’s 60th anniversary.

From the procession into the hall to the spectacular renditions from the performers, and the arrival of dignitaries, guests and well-wishers eagerly shared in the joy of the NIPR.

The theme of the day, ‘Public Relations, Value Orientation, and Economic Transformation,’ resonated throughout the event. Guest speakers shared their goodwill messages, emphasizing the need for Nigerians to unite for progress.

The day did not end without the recognition and induction of honorary members into the public relations community. The first recipient was Professor Justin Green of Global Alliance.

A panel session brought together some of Nigeria’s brightest minds to share insights on the nation’s landscape.

As the celebration moved to the next session, the dinner and award night, the caliber of dignitaries remained high. Former Head of State, Retired General Yakubu Gowon, and former First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan, among others, graced the event.

The awards ceremony commenced, by honoring excellence in communications and public relations.

Posthumous awards were given, including one to the late Media Mogul and entrepreneur Raymond Dokpesi.

Other recipients includetvc the oldest NIPR member who is105 years old, Retired General Yakubu Gowon, Dame Patience Jonathan, and CEO/Chairman of AirPeace, Allen Onyeama.

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, established in 1963, marked its 60th year in 2023, but the celebration is being held in 2024.

According to the institute’s president, the festivities will continue as they pledge to support the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
