"Working from Home? Save on Bills with E.ON"
E.ON customers who are working from home or are at home all day for any reason can save a significant £913 on their energy bills. The energy company has sent out emails to customers informing them about the potential savings they could make.

Exclusive Savings for E.ON Customers
Customers have the opportunity to save £713 on their energy bills over the next year, in addition to receiving a £200 discount on solar panel installation. This means that customers can potentially 'earn money back' through the savings accumulated from the solar panels, coupled with reduced upfront costs and payments for the power generated for the National Grid.

The email announcement stated, "We’re thrilled to share some exciting news with you. You could save up to £713 a year on your energy bills with the help of solar energy. With our special solar SEG tariffs, you can also receive payments by exporting surplus solar energy produced by your solar panel system to the grid. Essentially, you could save money by harnessing the power of the sun.

"As an E.ON Next customer, we are also providing up to £200 off on solar panels and battery systems." E.ON clarified that the figures mentioned are based on a property located in central England, featuring a south-facing solar array installed on a roof with a 35-degree tilt and no shading. The property in question would consume 4,800 kWh of electricity units annually, with the occupant being at home throughout the day, according to Express.

E.ON explained, "These figures are illustrative only and are derived from standardised MCS calculations. The savings are calculated based on a property equipped with a south-facing solar array in central England on a roof with a 35-degree tilt and no shading, consuming 4,800 kWh per year (with the occupant at home all day), at a tariff rate of 22.40p/kWh (as per Ofgem Energy Price Cap rate from 01 July 2024). The solar array comprises 12 x 435W panels (5.22 kWp) generating 4,881 kWh/year, along with a 5.1 kWh (5.1 kWh usable) battery."

Solar panels are available starting from approximately £5,000 from E.ON, although prices can vary among other installers. With a price tag of £7,500 including a battery and anticipated savings of £700 annually, customers could recoup their investment within 12 years and enjoy additional profits for another 13 years before the panels require replacement. In the event of escalating energy prices, customers might potentially recover their investment even sooner.
