He has worked with some of the best stars in the industry, such as Chris Brown, Dej Loaf, and Fetty Wap. He is best known for his songs ‘ Body Language’, ‘Hotel’, ‘Be Real’, and ‘Show Me’.

As of July 2024, Kid Ink’s net worth is approximately $2.5 Million.

Early Life

Brian Todd Collins was born on April 1, 1986, in Los Angeles. During his younger years, he attended after-school music programs, where he produced hip-hop beats and tracks.

Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, and Swizz were all an inspiration for his work ethic with the production and songwriting. When he was 22 years old, he began rapping full-time.

He later signed to his spearheaded record label, Tha Alumni Group, and its joint label, ’88 Classic’. Collins also changed his stage name to Kid Ink in respect for his label mate, DJ Ro.

Career

Kid Ink was inspired by Pharrell Williams and Swizz Beatz as a teenager to start making hip-hop beats during his after-school music program.

His first production credit was for Nipsey Hussle in 2008, and soon after, Ink began rapping full-time under the stage name Rockstar.

In 2010, Kid Ink released his first mixtape called World Tour, which got him signed by DJ Ill Will to his label Tha Alumni Group and 88 Classic.

The following year, he released his second mixtape, Crash Landing, which featured Ty Dolla Sign, Meek Mill, and others.

Shortly after, he released Daydreamer and Wheels Up, his third and fourth mixtapes, in mid and late 2011.

Kid Ink was included alongside French Montana and Future in XXL magazine’s yearly freshman class lineup.

In June 2012, he released his debut album, Up & Away, which debuted at no. 20 on the Billboard 200.

A year later, Ink signed with RCA Records and released his first big label single, “Bad Ass,” and the EP Almost Home

His second studio album, My Own Lane, was released in January 2014, and he received his first gold for the single “Show Me.”

At this time, his single “Money and the Power” was being used on HBO’s Hard Knocks, in the game NBA Live 14, and on WrestleMania.

However, in August 2014, Ink was arrested for “disturbing the peace” in Las Vegas, which ended up being a minor setback.

In 2015, Kid Ink released the album Full Speed featuring Usher and Tinashe, which peaked at no. 14 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

He also teamed up with Akon and Omarion for his mixtape Summer in the Winter, which was released the same year.

That year, he also released the song “Ride Out,” featuring Tyga and Rich Homie Quan, which was featured on the Furious 7 soundtrack.

In 2016, Kid Ink released the mixtape RSS2 on SoundCloud to return to his original sound, which helped make him famous.

In 2017, Kid Ink released the EP 7 Series, which he followed up with the EP Missed Calls in 2018.

He released several singles in 2019, including “No Stones,” “Miami,” “Bats Fly,” “Ride Like A Pro,” and “Fcukizyoudoin.”

His fourth studio album, Alive, was released in 2020 and included the songs “Look At That” and “45.”

The following year, he released Alive (Deluxe) and the singles “Red Light,” “Night & Day,” and “Party.”

Kid Ink joined Wiz Khalifa in 2022 on the single “Big Burna,” and he released the non-album track “Mykonos Flow.”

His most recent release was in 2023 with the single “Drop That Low (When I Dip)” featuring Tujamo.

Although his last charted track was in 2015, Kid Ink continues to release new music that his fans love every year.

That said, despite his many successes, Kid Ink has mostly fallen out of the mainstream, though his glory days may not be behind him yet.

If he were to put out a new album, it could easily bring him back as one of the hottest rappers in the industry.

Favorite Quotes from Kid Ink

“I try to be true to myself yet still at the same time look at comments and look at what the fans have to say and kind of put it in perspective. I’m never someone whose not open for opinion, I’m always just down to make it work and see how we can do things but at the end of the day I always want to make sure it represents me. It’s really about just being humble and not selling yourself on being there already.” – Kid Ink

“I think people think that labels can get you features more than you can get your own. I just don’t work like that.” – Kid Ink

“I’m going to be a singer. So I’m able to use that when I write. I’m actually playing the beat with my voice. Instead of thinking about coming up with melodies, it’s like filling in the instruments. So sometimes it’s better to have beaten with fewer melodies in them because then I can play more with my vocals.” – Kid Ink

“I still let myself be a fan of music and that motivates me to want to be better than certain people or just getting the same love. Nothing is new under the sun so you can’t be afraid to take things from others and try to flip them and make them your own at the end of the day.” – Kid Ink

“I love hitting the stage and I don’t think I could trade that for sitting in the basement making beats.” – Kid Ink
