MARON COUNTY, Fla. – A 27-year-old Gainesville man was killed after his vehicle crashed into a tractor trailer that was parked on the shoulder of Interstate 75 in Marion County on Sunday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened in the southbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 359 in Ocala around 4:05 p.m.

According to a crash report, a sedan was driving south on I-75 in the outside lane, when for unknown reasons, it traveled into the outside emergency shoulder and crashed into a parked tractor trailer.

The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
