2 Former Grey's Anatomy Co-Stars Have Hearty Reunion With A Call Back To Their On-Screen Couple
Two former Grey’s Anatomy stars share a sweet reunion on social media. Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) and Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh) were not among the most enduring couples of the long-running ABC drama, but they had their share of memorable interactions. A new photo, posted to social media ahead of Grey's Anatomy season 21, is making some fans wonder what might have been.
On Instagram, Leigh shared a photo of her reunion with Chambers. Check out the post below:
Leigh, who can currently be seen starring in the Hallmark time-travel family drama The Way Back, wrote in the caption with a shoutout to her former scene partner: “KAREV… forever charming ❤️”
But in a show that could sometimes gain a reputation for its tortured and doomed romances, Lexie and Alex could, at times, be called upon to give the medical drama its soap elements.
Alex and Lexie were not meant to be the endgame, as the characters were more invested in other relationships. Alex had Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl), while Lexie had a meaningful history with Mark Sloane (Eric Dane). But they did have a memorable history. He even makes it clear to her that he's more about one-night stands than anything serious. From time to time, viewers see them engaging in kisses, leading to some funny scenes where Alex is caught between Meredith and her little sister. However, he makes clear that he wants no part of the sibling rivalry.
Their more serious attempt at a relationship is also cut short when Alex calls out for Izzie after being shot. As part of Chambers' exit from Grey's Anatomy, it's revealed that Karev reconnects with Izzie. The medical soap was similarly devoted to Mark and Lexie's turbulent relationship. Her death, in particular, leads Mark to realize fully that he loved Lexie.
Lexie Grey became a fan favorite on Grey's Anatomy and one whose journey viewers loved to watch unfold until she met a tragic end.

Over the years, viewers have wondered what Grey's Anatomy might have been like if the show had been more willing to experiment and keep the audience on their toes in terms of which couples it highlights.
Grey's Anatomy is available to stream on Hulu and Netflix.

Grey's Anatomy is considered one of the great television shows of our time, winning several awards and four Emmys. The high-intensity medical drama follows Meredith Grey and the team of doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial, who are faced with life-or-death decisions on a daily basis. They seek comfort from one another, and, at times, more than just friendship. Together they discover that neither medicine nor relationships can be defined in black and white.
