African representatives; Egypt, Cameroon, Angola and Cote d’ Ivoire recorded winless outings in their first round robin matches against their opponents at the ongoing 2024 FIBA Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments (OQTs), Completesports.com reports.

The qualification tournament being hosted by Greece, Latvia, Spain, and Puerto Rico serves as an avenue for the twenty-four participating countries to battle for the four available tickets for the forthcoming Paris 2024 Olympics billed to get underway from July 26 to August 11.

The roundup of the match-day one showed that none of the African representatives won a single game as Egypt were unable to tame the claws of Dominican Republic, losing with a 13-margin gap which ended 77-90 in Group A, while Cameroon match versus Montenegro ended in a slim 4-margin gap, 66-70.

Other results showed that Spain defeated Angola with a 8-point margin which ended 89-81, while Lithuania beat Côte d’ Ivoire with a narrow 4-point margin, ending in 97-93.

The matches continue today as Angola faces Lebanon, while Greece clashes with Egypt. Cameroon will take on Brazil, while Côte d’Ivoire meets Mexico.
