The Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, warmly received the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and Edo State governorship candidate, Olumide Akpata, at his palace. The duo sought the monarch’s blessings ahead of the September 21 governorship election.

Mr. Peter Obi emphasized the importance of free, fair, and credible elections, crucial for Nigeria’s greatness. He expressed his gratitude for the Oba’s fatherly role and sought his prayers for the party’s success.

Olumide Akpata, the Edo State governorship candidate, humbly requested the Oba’s blessings, acknowledging the significance of royal support. He assured the monarch that the party is robust and determined to rescue the state and deliver democracy’s dividends to all 18 local government areas.

The Oba of Benin graciously welcomed and wished them well, as they embark on their campaign journey across the state. Earlier, Peter Obi was enthusiastically received at the state party secretariat, followed by a road walk through Benin metropolis, where he was greeted with fanfare by party faithful. The party also inaugurated its campaign secretariat in Benin, marking a significant milestone in their journey to victory.
