Two men in custody for Shaker Heights carjacking of 21-year-old man

Two18-year-olds are in custody for their alleged involvement in a Shaker Heights carjacking.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Cleveland police detained two men for allegedly using a gun to carjack a man in Shaker Heights.

At 5:55 p.m. July 3, officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Belvoir Road, where they learned that a Strongsville man, 21, had been ordered out of his vehicle at gunpoint by an unknown male wearing a surgical mask who got out of the passenger’s seat of a gold colored vehicle.

The victim reported that he had been forced to lie on the ground while the suspect stole his Ford vehicle.

The victim told police that the gold vehicle and his vehicle were driven away from the area while he was still on the ground.

Later, at 1:09 a.m. July 4, Shaker Heights police were notified that Cleveland police had detained two suspects allegedly involved in the crime -- 18-year-old men from Maple Heights and Cleveland.

The men had been found in the victim’s stolen vehicle while in the 2000 block of East 90th Street in Cleveland. The investigation is ongoing.
