Podcast Episode 279: Why Do We Have Holes in Our Undies?
It’s 6 a.m., and you’re scrambling to get the kids ready for school. You reach into the drawer for some undies and… surprise! Another pair with more holes than a block of Swiss cheese. But do you stop and think, “I should really buy myself some new ones”? Of course not.
You’ve got a never-ending list of things to buy for the kids, the house, and maybe even the dog. Your needs? They’re somewhere down there below the shopping list for hamster bedding.
Sound familiar? We bet it does…and you’re not alone in this daily juggle of priorities.
Let’s face it—always putting yourself last isn’t just about underwear. It’s a metaphor for the daily sacrifices that contribute to your overall stress and mom burnout. When you constantly short yourself, you’re setting yourself up for burnout. Preventing mom burnout means recognizing that the little luxuries you skip, thinking they’re unnecessary, are actually tiny acts of self-care that keep you sane.
It’s time for some real talk about why moms always seem to be last in line when it comes to getting nice things, and why it’s about time we started treating ourselves better. You deserve to feel valued and appreciated, starting with yourself.
Next time you find yourself reaching for those holey undies, remember: a small splurge here and there is not only okay—it’s necessary to prevent mom burnout.
