2027 Realignment: Kaduna Speaker Visits Shehu Sani

In a bid to strategize and form a united front ahead of the 2027 general elections in Kaduna, the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Liman, has visited former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, to woo him to return to the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to sources, part of the reasons for the visit was to thank Senator Sani for his support and contributions during the concluded investigation into the alleged looting of the Kaduna State Treasury. The Kaduna State House of Assembly had set up a 13-member fact-finding committee to investigate financial transactions, loans, grants, and project executions under the eight-year administration of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

Senator Shehu Sani, who was elected to support the steps taken to recover the looted funds, hailed the Kaduna State House of Assembly for probing former Governor El-Rufai’s administration from 2015-2023. He praised the lawmakers’ courage and determination, stating that the people of Kaduna were appreciative of their efforts.

In appreciation of Senator Sani’s support and contributions during the investigation, the Speaker visited him as a measure to return the gesture. Meanwhile, sources reveal that part of the reasons for the visit was to discuss realignment and appeal for his return to the APC to support Governor Uba Sani ahead of the 2027 general election. Shehu Sani has recently appeared to have resolved his political differences with his friend and Kaduna Governor, Senator Uba Sani, in order to work in unity as a formidable force to develop Kaduna State.
