Some mobile policemen on special duties in Lagos have lamented on social media about living in an uncompleted building with a bushy and swampy environment.

According to a video released which was seen by our correspondent on Saturday, one of the police officers who identified himself as Inspector Emmanuel complained that the policemen were kept in a building without a good roof and window at an estate in the Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos.

Calling on the authorities to come to their aid, Emmanuel also accused the “admin of the barrack,” Supol Boniface Izebedi, of victimising them (police officers) whenever they complained about the untidy environment.

He also claimed that Izebedi usually withheld the allowance of any policeman who complained to him.

In the video, Emmanuel could be heard saying, “I am using this medium to inform the general public that there is no good ventilation, no water; no toilet where we are posted to. We mop every time it rains where we are living. We don’t have rest of mind when rain falls. That is our barrack, no good roof on it. We don’t have an alternative place to stay when it rains.

“I want you to know that the admin, Supol Boniface Izebedi, does insult us anytime we call his attention to this. He will seize your allowance the moment you complain to him. We are being kept at abandoned upstairs. This is what we are passing through in Lagos, Ibeju Lekki area.”

When contacted, the Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Benjamin Hundeyin, declined to comment on the claims made in the video.

Hundeyin said, “I cannot comment on it, the Force PRO is in the best position to speak on the matter. The police officer (in the video) is not serving in Lagos command, he was deployed from Abuja.”

But several calls to the Force PRO, Mr Olumuyiwa Adejobi, were not answered, while text and WhatsApp messages sent to his phone were not replied as of the time of filing this report.
