Legendary Italian manager Fabio Capello has expressed his disappointment at Riccardo Calafiori's impending move to Arsenal, believing the young defender would have thrived under Thiago Motta's revolution at Juventus.

The 22-year-old is expected to join the Gunners for a fee of around €53m, with Juve unable to match the Gunners' bid.

Capello, who coached Calafiori's international teammates and has followed his development, feels the defender's personality and skills would have been a great fit for Motta's project.

"It's a pity for Calafiori; he has a great personality and would have suited Motta well," Capello said in an interview.

"Thiago Motta is doing a revolution and Giuntoli also seems very determined. I am curious about Thuram. I coached his father, Lilian, and he spoke very highly of his younger son."

Capello's comments highlight the potential Calafiori possesses and the impact he could have had at the Emirates.
