Senator Adams Oshiomhole, a former Governor of Edo State, has called for capital punishment for those frustrating the Dangote Refinery and pushing us into hardship. He made this statement at the maiden Prof Emeka Umerah’s public lecture in Abuja, themed ‘Nigeria Yesterday, Today and a Prosperous Future’.

According to Daily Trust, Oshiomhole lamented that despite the celebration of Dangote Refinery, Nigeria’s crude oil is still being exported while Dangote is denied allocations. He described this as a deliberate attempt to frustrate the refinery and push Nigerians into hardship. “Those guys deserve to be hanged. If we don’t hang them, they will hang all of us. What it takes to hang them will require a president with extraordinary courage,” Oshiomhole said.

He also commended President Bola Tinubu for his courageous leadership and vision, saying that it takes a courageous leader to carry out reforms that may bring temporary pain. The Senate is seeking to review the contentions in the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) to address these challenges.
