In the wake of the recent bomb blast in Gwoza, Borno State, Rt. Rev. Professor Emmanuel Morris, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Maiduguri, condemned the attack, describing it as “ungodly.” He urged for increased prayer and a new governmental approach to combat terrorism.

Highlighting the urgent need for fervent prayer, the Bishop called for divine intervention to end the violence that continues to plague the northeast region and Nigeria as a whole.

While he reassured that the Church remains stable for now, Bishop Morris expressed deep concern over the loss of innocent lives, both Christian and Muslim, in the recent attacks. He emphasized that these bombings target innocent people, irrespective of their religion.

The death toll from the recent bombings in Gwoza has risen to 32, as confirmed by Vice President Kashim Shettima during a visit to the injured victims. Shettima offered condolences to the families affected by the tragedy and pledged government support. He also conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s sympathies to the people of Gwoza and Borno State.

Authorities continue to grapple with the aftermath of the attack, which left dozens injured. Medical officials report treating 26 victims, with 14 discharged following initial treatment.
