Tribute has continued to pour in for veteran actor and musician, Zulu Adigwe. The veteran actor reportedly passed on April 23. His demise was announced via an Instagram post by a notable movie producer, Stanley Nwoko.

Tribute has continued to pour in for veteran actor and musician, Zulu Adigwe. The veteran actor reportedly passed on April 23. His demise was announced via an Instagram post by a notable movie producer, Stanley Nwoko. Although Nwoko did not give details of the cause of his death, close family sources say the actor has been battling an undisclosed illness.

The news of his death shook the motion picture space. The Enugu State-born actor and dramatist rose to limelight playing the role of ‘Mr. B’ in the long-rested sitcom by Ken Saro Wiwa, titled, ‘Basi and Company’. Tribute has come from colleagues, mentees and fans. In a tribute which he shared on his social media handles, notable film practitioner and sound track specialist, Mike Nliam, described the veteran actor as a rare gem. He wrote, “an icon passed on today.

A rare gem with a fantastic sense of humour!’ Continuing, he wrote: “I watched Uncle Zulu on TV as Mr B on the hit Ken Saro Wiwa’s hit TV series ‘Basi & Company’ that was when I was in secondary school in the 80s. We became close in 2003 when I cast him in the movie, Blood Diamonds, which was shot on location in Sierra Leone immediately after the country’s civil war. The film, which also starred other Nollywood greats as well as Sierra Leone star actors was written by Mucktarr Tejan Cole, financed and produced by Sam Kargbo and directed by Teco Benson.

I will miss him’. Actress Hilda Dokubo was among the many that penned down a tribute for the star of movies such as Issakaba, Top Secret, Last Ofalla, The Kingmaker, After Dawn, Divided Hearts and City of Kings. Dokubo shared a picture of the late actor on her Instagram handle and wrote: “Uncle Zulu, just like that Abi! Rest in peace. Nollywood another moving library of the performing arts just left us. This pain of losing loved ones is not easy. May all who mourn be comforted.” No news yet about burial plans, Adigwe will be remembered for living roles delightfully.
