Billionaire Warren Buffett Changes His Will: ‘No Money For Gates Foundation After My Death’

93 year old founding chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffett, has made significant amendments to his will and this would possibly affect his pal Bill Gates’ charity, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In his new will and statement, the billionaire reportedly stated that the Gates foundation “has no money coming” after his death.

Buffet in 2006 had pledged 85% of Berkshire Hathaway stock to charity. The stocks are worth about $37 billion, with the majority of the money going to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. So far, the foundation has received $43 billion in charity. In 2010, Buffett also co-founded with pal Bill Gates’ the Giving Pledge to encourage billionaires to commit a major slice of their wealth for the greater good. Buffet was the trustee of the Gates charity from 2006 until 2021.

Mark Suzman, the CEO of the foundation, stated that the charity is deeply grateful to Buffett for his dedication in advancing the foundation’s mission. On the foundation’s site, Suzman quips that Buffett’s prodigious generosity is hard to quantify and even harder to quantify how his values became integral to the foundation’s culture. With his departure, Buffett bestowed the largest annual gift to the foundation amounting to nearly $3.2 billion. Bill Gates remarked that the value of Buffet’s gift goes beyond anything that can be measured.
