Rotary Club of Lagos installs new president, promise sustained impact

The Rotary Club of Lagos, District 9112, has installed Adetunji Lamidi as the 64th rotary president at the installation ceremony recently held in Lagos.

Speaking at his installation ceremony, Lamidi stated that the board and members of the club had achieved their first project at the beginning of the rotary year and were determined to sustain and expand the club’s impact spanning over 6 decades.

“Our goals for the year are audacious, yet achievable. Some include commissioning a secondary school in Iboku Aro village, catering for over 200 children. We also plan to empower 200 widows and donate five incubators to five general hospitals in Lagos. Last week, we donated infant incubators to Island Maternity, as our first project for the year.”

For community development, Lamidi said that the club will increase its micro-credit fund to 20 million naira to support five markets across Lagos.

“We currently support the market in Gbagada and Oke-Arin, and we intend to expand to five other communities. We will also build 5 bore-hole projects in five communities and pay annual scholarships for 20 university students across Lagos,” he said.

While delivering the Chairperson’s remarks, Oluyemisi Edun, MD, First City Monument Bank, stated that FCMB saw Rotary Club as a viable platform for driving inclusion, national cohesion and sustainable development.

“I am delighted to announce that FCMB will be supporting the Club in their service project focusing on empowering over 200 widows with micro-credit and skills acquisition. I believe that the club, under the new leadership of Rotarian Adetunji Lamidi, will deliver on its mandate of promoting friendships, goodwill, humanitarian service and community development,” she said.

“Our club is 64 years old and we’re installing the 64th president. Surely, we have come a long way. Rotarian Adetunji Lamidi is an experienced Rotarian. He has so much experience and has contributed to the development of our club. He’s an influencer with a good vision. I am very confident that the club will witness lots of progress and innovation,” he said.
