In a press release issued today, the APC New Media Campaign Council called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disqualify Mr. Asue Ighodalo, the PDP candidate for the upcoming Edo State Governorship election scheduled for September 21st. The council cites serious allegations that threaten the integrity of the electoral process.

Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah, the Director of the APC New Media Campaign Council, stated, “Mr. Ighodalo faces court accusations of forging his voter’s card, a grave offense that questions his eligibility and trustworthiness as a candidate. Moreover, a Federal High Court has invalidated the delegates that nominated Mr. Ighodalo as the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate, further casting a shadow over his legitimacy.”

The council emphasized the broader implications of these allegations, both legal and moral. They asserted that INEC has a duty to safeguard the sanctity of elections and that allowing a candidate embroiled in such serious controversies to remain on the ballot jeopardizes the credibility of the electoral process.

“The electorate deserves an election that is free from doubts and controversies. INEC’s prompt action in this matter will reaffirm its commitment to conducting a transparent, fair, and credible election,” Omo-Ikirodah added.

The APC New Media Campaign Council strongly advises INEC to take immediate steps to disqualify Mr. Asue Ighodalo from the ballot papers. They warn that failing to address these allegations adequately would not only compromise the integrity of the election but also set a dangerous precedent for future electoral malpractice.
